A very, VERY, quick post to say we've got some brilliant news that's definitely put a smile on our faces!
Jenna's been shortlisted for a National Community Radio Award. Woo hoo! Jenn's on the five-person shortlist for best Newcomer, which recognises outstanding achievement for people new to the radio over the past 12 months.
Sitting down to think about how to bring the blog to life on radio, and making it happen by chatting to some very cool guests from across our Somerset communities, seems like an age ago now! There was the 2 hour Christmas day festive special last year too and not forgetting the crazy moment of madness/inspiration that resulted in the 24 hour non-stop 'Somerset coolathon' radio show coming to the community airwaves!
It was awesome raising funds to help Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue and Lurcher SOS, talking to amazing people on our wildlife, photography, art, foodie and makers hours, hearing the stories of your rescue dogs and what about that collaboration with cake artist Zoe Burmester to get the show and Frome FM on Channel 4 ? :)
Looking back, how we kept awake and chatting for 1,440 minutes, we'll never know!
The best thing about all of it though, is that you've been bleeping brilliant... with your donations during that 24 hour broadcast and with the really lovely feedback about every show, so we're keeping everything (and we do mean everything!) crossed that we can get the win for Somerset at the awards ceremony in South Wales on October 26th!
Whatever happens though, it's fantastic to be on the shortlist that's for sure, and another fantastic thing we've got to mention is that it's our first birthday show this Sunday 13th October at 12 noon... one whole year of Somerset cool live!
To celebrate, we've got some live music and a few surprises up our sleeves, as you might expect, so don't miss it... and if you'd like to get involved, we'd love to hear the stories of your best birthdays, whether they were your favourite, most memorable or most meaningful.
