#PictureSomerset

We've always loved photography. We've been through a fair few cameras, taken a million different shots and since being in Somerset, we've developed a real passion for snapping as often as we can - whether it's the garden throughout the seasons, the golden Somerset fields, the quirky things that catch our eye or these days, our three rescue hounds, Petal, Fawn and Iz Whizz!

The thing we love most though, is seeing other people's awesome pictures of Somerset - people with the patience and vision to get the very best shot... a photograph that makes you sit back, shiver and simply say wow, or the ones that make you giggle. Yep. We've got a thing for those!

Anyway, after a year of Somerset cool, I started up 'Picture of the week' -  selecting a photograph that inspires us and publishing it on our homepage to celebrate the huge photography talent in Somerset, whether it's a picture taken professionally, or for the love of it, or both! :)

We'll always do 'Picture of the week' but we wanted to do more, so we've created #picturesomerset - a way of building a picture of the county from your fantastic photos and stories. The first event, to bring the idea to life, was a photography exhibition I curated together with artist Donna Vale at her gallery in Langport. It featured over 70 of your awesome photos, celebrated Somerset in all its photographic glory and the little film of the launch evening is on the homepage.

And there'll be more... oh yes! So, if you're a photographer looking to collaborate, keep in touch with us on our #picturesomerset Instagram, drop us a line on email and tag your photos #picturesomerset and #somersetcool on social media.
