Friday night's a big night in Somerset and this week, it's an even bigger night if you're a Glovers fan! Manchester United are coming to town... to Yeovil Town in the fourth round of the FA Cup, and it's going to be unmissable. The match is sold out, it's on BBC 1 at 7.30pm if you haven't got a ticket and as it's Round Four, we thought it'd be great to do a Four Thoughts interview with the club before Friday night's showdown. Yeovil Town's Press Officer Alex O’Loughlin stopped by for a chat, so we asked him four questions we thought you'd love to know the answers to.
1. How did it feel to get a home tie against Man United in the 4th round and what does a tie like this mean to the club?
It was exciting news for all of us at the club. Teams in the lower leagues of the EFL don’t often get the chance to play against the country’s elite, so to host Manchester United for the second time in four years is something we feel incredibly lucky to do. It means a great deal for the club both financially (as it generates a good amount of money) and most importantly, for the fans - who get to enjoy the one-off occasion.
2. What'll it be like having Mourinho in the away dug out on Friday? Is there a bottle of red wine waiting for after the match? ;)
I’m sure it’ll be a surreal moment for the Yeovil fans to see someone of Mourinho’s stature in the away dugout and for our manager Darren Way, I know he's relishing the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with one of the world’s best managers.
Lee Johnson up the road at Bristol City obviously spent a bit of money on a bottle of red, but we’re from Somerset so we’re looking into some traditional cider options!
3. Can you share the hopes for the future of Yeovil Town with us?
The main hope for the club in the relative short term is a return to playing in League One. A number of players signed two-year contracts in the summer, so the hope is that a squad of players capable of competing at the top of the table can be assembled.
4. Tell us a secret about Friday's match that no-one else knows! ;)
Well, no-one knows my score prediction, so here it is! I’m a Yeovil boy so I have to go for a 2-2 draw and a replay at Old Trafford.
If we get that, Alex, we'll be over the flipping moon - and you absolutely never know, when the magic of the FA Cup's involved.
